    Anubis Lok: Tattoo Artist

Anubis is the tattoo artist behind Psychopomp Tattoo studio in Hong Kong, and she is the first in our series, Artists of the City: Hong Kong

Her style derives from the dark arts, and each piece is a collaboration between the feelings and experiences of the client, and her own feeling as the needle moves its way across the muscles of the body.

    If Wishes Were Horses

Horses are neglected, abused and sent to auction in the US, where they are bought by the pound, sent to Canada for slaughter, and then sold for human consumption in Europe and Asia. Elsewhere in Canada, horses are raised and sent live overseas to be slaughtered there and eaten raw. "If Wishes Were Horses" investigates why these practices continue despite numerous public outcries, and also visits with horse rescue organizations trying to change the tide.

"If Wishes Were Horses" is currently in production. Reach out to the production team if you would like to contribute to the topic or be a part of this important project at ifwisheswerehorsesdoc@gmail.com.

    Paint it Red

Lions and the colour red - if we add these two things, does it make something Chinese? Vancouver Chinatown has a long and storied history that precedes the formation of Canada. If you ask a Vancouverite what their favourite memory of Chinatown is, no doubt, they will say 'going to the restaurants growing up,' but such memories are at risk of becoming a mere remnant of the past as massive developments move into the neighbourhood and push out independent businesses, green grocers, and the residents who helped build Vancouver. We are now at a critical crossroads as to whether Chinatown will survive; what direction will we choose?
